AGF Seeks Journalism and Marketing Interns

Training Tomorrow's Hispanic & Latinamerican Leaders Today"
The Americas Global Foundation (AGF) Washington based NGO, under its EACIL program, seeks undergraduate interns to help write and conduct research for its weekly newsletter. The interns will work with our Communications Director, to launch a newsletter targeted to mainstream America and Hispanic leaders in the United States interested in US-Latin America relations and domestic Hispanic political/ economic/ educational/ social issues.
Self-starters with entrepreneurial/ marketing skills are required. Interns will also have the opportunity to interview Washington policy and decision makers and attend forums related to Hispanic politics and business development in order to report on the most pressing issues impacting the Hispanic community in the US.
Daily responsibilities include monitoring Hispanic and mainstream press for most relevant political and economic news; Conducting Internet research on Hispanic business, politics and other; Evaluating daily headlines and generating reports on specific topics, such as: US Congress, The White House, Federal Departments, multilaterals, and private sector that will be of interest to subscribers; assist to augment and maintain AGF’s database. Interns will write 3-4 brief articles a week and also work on the layout and production of the newsletter. Paperwork will be kept to a minimum. This is an ideal experience for aspiring journalists, public relations, lobbyists, congressional staffers, advocacy workers, and entrepreneurs.
AGF will provide selected Interns unique valuable training, including learning the process and protocol of Washington, opening a synergy of opportunities. Additionally, AGF offers said Interns the opportunity to be members of its permanent staff and or provide them logistic support when they go back to their cities or countries of origin as members of AGF’s growing global network.
Working hours are flexible. This is an unpaid position initially.
Ø Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate program
Ø Self-starter with entrepreneurial skills
Ø Excellent Internet research skills
Ø Spanish fluency highly desired
Ø Knowledge of Hispanic organizations, Hispanic market and Hispanic federal and local politics
Ø Ability to work under deadlines and as part of a team
Ø Ability to write concisely
Ø Previous experience writing for a publication
Ø Knowledge of PageMaker, QuarkXpress or other publishing software
